SC stays HC order on UP lockdown

New Delhi, April 20

A day after the Allahabad High Court imposed lockdown (till April 26) in five cities of Uttar Pradesh by a judicial order in view of a sudden spike in Covid-19 cases, the Supreme Court today stayed the decision.

A Bench led by CJI SA Bobde asked the UP Government to report back to the high court on the steps taken by it to deal with the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the Yogi government imposed till further orders a weekend curfew in the entire state and a night curfew on weekdays in all districts with over 500 cases.
