India's new infections today dropped below 60,000 to settle at 55,342 for the first time in two months, signalling that the Covid-19 graph was flattening.
The government announced that the graph had plateaued but gains could be lost if people disregarded Covid-appropriate behaviour. The Health Ministry said a potentially severe second wave was likely in winters if people didn't maintain hygiene. NITI Aayog Member (Health) VK Paul said the 1918 pandemic wreaked greater havoc during its second wave in winter. — TNS
