Lt Gen Menon takes charge of 14 Corps

Lt Gen PGK Menon will be the new Commander of the Indian Army's Leh-based 14 Corps, which is dual tasked to face China in Ladakh and also Pakistan in the Drass-Kargil-Batalik and the Siachen sector.

Lt Gen Menon will replace Lt Gen Harinder Singh, who has completed his tenure at Leh and moves to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. Lt Gen Menon will take over in mid-October.

He was commissioned into the 17th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment. At present, he is Colonel Commandant of the Sikh Regiment.

In the past, he has served in the sector as a Brigadier. Gen Menon was present along with Gen Singh at the last round of military talks between Indian and Chinese commanders in eastern Ladakh on September 21.
