Several leaders from the state — including former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar — have come out in support of Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut, while accusing the Shiv Sena of disgracing a woman.
Shanta Kumar, senior BJP leader, today expressed concern over security and safety of Kangana, a native of Himachal Pradesh.
In a letter written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Shanta asked him to provide her adequate security following threats she had been receiving from Shiv Sena workers.
He appreciated the "stand taken by the brave daughter of Himachal Pradesh" in actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case.
Former BJP state president and chairman of the State Finance Commission Satpal Singh Satti also lashed out at the Shiv Sena for "issuing threats to Kangana". "This only reflects the politics of hatred being played by the Shiv Sena and the disparaging attitude it has towards women," he said.
He also lashed out at Congress leaders of the state for being silent when a Himachali actor was being ridiculed and demeaned.
Former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Radha Raman Shastri also demanded adequet security for Kangana on reaching Mumbai. He condemned the Shiv Sena for using "offensive and objectionable language" against Kangana.
