As India's Covid-19 caseload surpassed the 36-lakh mark today with 78,512 new infections in 24 hours, the government data showed seven states accounted for 70 per cent of these.
Of the total 36,21,245, cases, three states — Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka — make up 43 per cent of the caseload.
The three states also account for 50 per cent of the deaths added in the last 24 hours, with Maharashtra leading with 30.48 per cent. The toll has climbed to 64,469 with 971 deaths in 24 hours. Recoveries have risen to 27,74,801 with 76.62 per cent national cure rate. There are 7,81,975 active cases. — TNS
