The government today made it clear that India would have to wait to acquire herd immunity through Covid vaccination and could not look at herd immunity through mass infections as a strategic option or a choice.
OSD to Health Ministry Rajesh Bhushan said herd immunity through the non-vaccination route in which large population has to be infected to become immune to the virus cannot be an option for a country of the size and population of India as it would involve a huge disease and death burden. — TNS
